Jasmine Curtis-Smith reveals her sister Anne tried to convince her to be a Kapamilya: “Siyempre ako masusunod. Career ko ‘to, e,”

They say “blood is thicker than water” which simply translates as your family or any blood-related relationship will always be more meaningful than the rest of the other relationships you will have in life. Although actress Jasmin Curtis-Smith acknowledges this fact, she did not letter her family gets away with her decision making when it comes to her career choices.

In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph), the newly-signed Kapuso actress revealed why she opted to sign a deal with GMA-7 rather than being a certified Kapamilya like her elder sister, Anne Curtis.

According to Jasmine, she made a hard decision making whether to transfer from GMA-7 or ABS-CBN especially that her sister is very diligent in pushing her to be in the same network.

“Of course, ano, we took time para mabalanse yung decision. And well, parang mas ano lang, mas nag-lean lang talaga ako towards GMA,” Jasmine said.

The 24-years-old actress jokingly said that she might only cause trouble in the Kapamilya network since her ever stage sister is there.

“Maybe! Baka gulo lang ang dalhin ko dun, di ba. You’ll never know, but no… In all honesty and seriousness, parang ano lang, parang siguro mas bumabagay lang ako sa culture ng GMA ngayon, kung paano ako ngayon,” she explained.

“Alam kong mas magiging magaan ako and yung pagbalik ko sa TV pag sa GMA ako… not to say naman na pag sa ABS mabigat or anything. I just feel like yung challenges dito, yung GMA will be more… ano ba? Mas kaya kong lagpasan yung mga challenges dito.Parang feeling ko kasi there’s more pressure, there’s more… ano ba? Competition, sometimes… from the people of the other network, but that’s not to say that’s the network, it’s just the people,” she added.

Jasmine explained that she feels more comfortable signing up with the Kapuso network and feels like she will be freer to explore her capabilities.

“In GMA, I’m sure there’s competition, I’m sure there’s some artists with rivalries, but I feel like mas quiet lang ako dito, mas puwede akong bago, mas puwede akong makalaru-laro,” Jasmine said.

When asked if she avoided being a Kapamilya star to avoid being compared to her Ate Anne, Jasmine said: “Hindi rin talaga, e. Kasi actually, inisip na rin yan na mas masaya if I go to where she is, para magkasama na kami, mas may tsansa kaming magkita for work. But sadyang we’re so different, and she wants me to go to ABS, I want to go to GMA”.
