The discussion about gender has always been a sensitive one for a Catholic country like the Philippines. Although many of us can confidently say that we accept gays and lesbians from the LGBT community, we cannot also deny that discrimination and hate against them still exist and are still happening.
But despite all these negative perceptions, many of our LGBT community members may still gain confidence and bravery from the following celebrities who were able to out themselves as members of the colorful group.
1.) RENZO ALMARIO
-Renzo braved all criticisms after he admitted that he is gay. He also introduced his boyfriend on stage.
2.) NICO SANTOS
-Nico Santos gained fame when he played the role of Oliver T’sien in the movie, Crazy Rich Asian. He is a proud member of the LGBT community.
3.) VICE GANDA
-Of course, this list will not be completed without Vice Ganda. He is always a proud member of the LGBT community and his talent really inspired many gays in the country to pursue their own dreams.
4.) ALLAN K
-Before Vice Ganda, we already have Allan k to bring us all the laughter that we need. He is really a total performer.
5.) AIZA SEGUERRA
-Aiza is one of the country’s loveliest child stars. After her shows, she grew up to be a public servant especially for the youth.
6.) BOY ABUNDA
-We all know how excellent Boy Abunda is when it comes to hosting talk shows. In fact, his legacy really created a strong impression among the Filipino people.
7.) RAJO LAUREL
-Many of us dreamed of wearing a garment designed by Rajo Laurel who has created amazing creations for famous celebrities.
8.) MONIQUE WILSON
Monique is a very excellent theatre actress who became Kim’s understudy in Miss Saigon.
9.) BB GANDANGHARI
-When BB came out as a transgender woman, many were shocked but were happy with her revelation.
10.) JAKE ZYRUS
-Formerly known as Charice Pempengco, Jake inspired many when he was able to brave criticisms from his own family.
