At a young age, Gary Roque was exposed to the harsh reality of life when he was forced to work as a jeepney driver.
Because his parents didn’t have enough money to support his studies, Roque, then still a student, had to stop after two years in college. All throughout, he spent his time being a jeepney driver like his father, instead of just wasting his life away at home.

Soon, however, Roque would realize that he deserves so much more than his current job.
With a go signal from his parents, Roque – now with an insatiable drive for success more than ever – decided to go back to school. But, rather than ask for support, the student continued to become a jeepney driver to fund his studies himself.
Of course, the course wasn’t so smooth for Roque. After school, at around 5 or 6 p.m., he would quickly change clothes and go about his routine as a driver. Sometimes, he even has to excuse himself from the professors, who were all thankfully understanding.
According to the young man, he usually ends up on the road until 2 to 3 a.m. That means, he would always go to school with little to no sleep the next day
There was one point where Roque felt like he wanted to give up.
“Pero di ako huminto sa ganong gawain pinag patuloy ko kasi gusto kong makatapos. Pero my isang trahedyang dumating sakin. Na akala ko di na tlga ko makakapag tapos nung naaksidente ako habang papasok sa iskwelahan. Kala ko katapusan na ng lahat akala ko hanggang dun nalang tlga ako.”
Here are the comments from the netizens:
With faith and determination, Roque was able to finish with a degree of B.I.T. in Computer Technology from Bulacan State University.
“Salamat sa 8php at 7 php nyong pamasahe nakapag tapos ako”
This young man is surely going places!
