In 2007, Ciara Sotto went to the United States to try and make a life for herself. According to the actress, she was supposed to be a part of the show “Fever” in the Melanja Sky Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the show never happened. Thus, Ciara had to support herself and take odd jobs, one of which was being a go-go dancer.
In an article by KAMI, the actress said living in the U.S. really helped build her character. There even came a time when she wanted to give up and go back to the Philippines, but Ciara said she wanted to prove herself.
It was then when one of her American friends invited her to work in the same club that they were working in.
“Yung mga Amerikana ko na friends na nagwo-work sa mga club na go-go dancers, [tinanong ako], ‘You wanna come? It’s just an hour and you get a hundred dollars.’ Sabi ko, ‘Really?’ And all you have to do is dance.”

The actress agreed but was shocked to see what she had to wear when she got to the club. According to her, the dancers were made to wear a beaded bra top, among others.
Despite the hardships she encountered, Ciara never mentioned anything about her job as a go-go dancer to her family. They only found out about it when she got home, and the actress said they weren’t pleased.
“Nalaman na lang nila after a while, pag-uwi ko. Siyempre hindi sila natuwa,” the actress said.
Ciara rose to fame at the age of six as part of the longest-running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga”.
