It takes a lot of effort and patience before one finds their true calling in life. When it comes to celebrities, we assume that acting is their passion. However, it looks like former actor Don Laurel had his heart set on something else — law enforcement.
The former Star Magic actor has served as a police officer at the 32nd Division in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for nine years.
Don Laurel is just one of the many stars who made a name for themselves in the youth-oriented drama hit “Gimik.” Along with Judy Ann Santos, Patrick Garcia, Diether Ocampo and the late Rico Yan, these stars shaped the childhood of many a ‘90s kid.

After his time in the limelight, Don decided to fly to Canada and follow his dream of becoming a police officer.
The former actor was also featured by CBC Toronto, talking about his life then and now.
“I have always wanted to be a police officer. This is the best job in the world. What I play on TV is make-believe. When the camera stops rolling, that’s it. As an officer, this is a front-row seat to real life.”
He also mentioned how his past celebrity status helped him during one of his rescues.
“It was a call where a male had barricaded himself inside his apartment with a huge knife [pointed at his neck]. As soon as I started having a conversation, engaging with this person who was in crisis at that point in time, immediately he calmed down ’cause he recognized that I was there to help him. He looked at me and said, ‘Hey! Aren’t you so-and-so?,’ and I said. ‘Yeah.'”
